It took them almost a week to visit their place of childhood years since ICTY Appeal Chamber acquitted them of war crimes and set them free. General Ante Gotovina finally made it to Pakostane in Dalmatia and General Mladen Markac to Djurdjevac (Đurđevac) in Koprivnica-Krizevci County (North-East from Zagreb). Following phrases embedded in photographs below, on the occasion of their visiting the towns that molded them into men talk amply of their inspiring and unassuming character.
Clear and concise. Composed and honorable. I hope that Ms. Gitman won’t mind if I paraphrase a part of the title of her book and say that Croatian courage has once again prevailed.
Yes, composed and honorable indeed. Compare What Gotovina and Markac have said to that of Vuk Jeramic and Timislav Nikolic. Even though I have not been fond of Josipovic or Milanovic in the past, I have to commend them too for their composed and sensible remarks. Have a read at what Nikolic has to say…
“What does he want (in reference to Gotovina calling for Serbs to return to Croatia) – to gather them and then expel them again, kill them, finish the job?”
