Happy 5th August! Victory and Homeland Gratitude Day and Croatian Defenders’ Day / Nikola Knez and the Croatian Film Institute

It has been 30 years since on August 5, 1995, Croatian military forces in its swift and professional Operation Storm, with minimal casualties, liberated its Knin region, much of Serb-occupied territory controlled by separatist ethnic Serbs since early 1991. This marked the end of war although it took to early 1998 to regain back all of its occupied territory.

The Croatian Film Institute congratulates all Croatians, especially Croatian Veterans, on the DAY OF VICTORY AND HOMELAND GRATITUDE and is giving away films for review that can be viewed freely on the institute’s website.

My goal is to raise awareness of these connections and issues worldwide.
