Continue reading →: BBC: stealthy, mean-spirited bias that runs deep
Just for the record: complaints, analyses, protests, court cases, write-ups about BBC bias is not a new phenomenon, it’s been going on for years. Indeed if one searches for BBC’s bias on the internet one finds seemingly endless legitimate and justifiable information on this issue. I, myself, have addressed the issue…

Continue reading →: Bleiburg Massacres: the Shame of the British Army and Yugoslav communists
To call the Bleiburg Massacres commemoration a “happening” is awful, and utterly disrespectful of the dead. That’s what Croatia’s president Ivo Josipovic did this week when he commented on the decision by the parliamentary presidency to stop sponsoring the annual commemoration at Bleiburg (Austria). Josipovic said this week that the…

The concepts of “paying taxes” and “mandatory employer contributions to pension/superannuation funds” that form a large part of good corporate and general citizenship in western democracies have eluded the Croatian income earners on a grand scale, it seems. While the majority of corporate or individual citizens in the West complain…

April 15 2012 – the world remembers those who died and those who survived when the Titanic sank 100 years ago. From croatiantimes.com: ‘Out of the 30 Croatians who were heading for America in search of a better life, only 3 survived the tragedy. Nikola Lulic, Ivan Jalsevac and Mara…

Continue reading →: Croatia: Antifascist citizens show their ugly face at rally in Zagreb
On Friday 13 April, in the evening, several hundred visibly rowdy followers of Citizens action United Against Fascism came to Zagreb’s Ban Jelacic Square – ready to pounce upon the right-wing Croatian Civilisation /Culture Movement (HUP) gathering. But the HUP gathering attracted barely twenty people. The police presence was strong…
Ina Vukic: I was born in Croatia and live Australia. I have been described as a prominent figure known for my contribution to the Croatian and wider societies, particularly in the context of Croatia’s transition from communism to democracy, as well as for my many years of work as a clinical psychologist and Chief Executive Officer of government-funded services for people with disabilities, including mental health services, in Australia. In 1995, the President of the Republic of Croatia awarded me two Medals of Honor, the Homeland War Memorial Medal and the Order of the Croatian Trefoil for her special merits and her contribution to the founding of the Republic of Croatia. I have been a successful blogger since 2011 and write extensively in the English-language on issues related to Croatian current affairs and democracy, as well as the challenges Croatia faced and still faces in its transition from communism. My goal is to raise awareness of these connections and issues worldwide.
