Continue reading →: Happy This Christmas – Mick Hucknall
His trademarks are red hair and peculiarly soothing voice that had sent him into a starry orbit back in 1985, when he became the front man of Simply Red. Mick Hucknall hasn’t given up music, just in case you’ve been wondering about him during the past decade. Mid-December 2011 Mick…

Continue reading →: Serbs should apologise and proper reconciliation could follow
In a recent Vjesnik newspaper article Milorad Pupovac, president of SDSS (independent Democratic Serb Party) representing a part of Serbian minority in Croatia said that his party may collaborate with the governing centre-left Kukuriku (Cock-a-doodle-doo) alliance even if the Kukuriku alliance had previously stated that collaboration with political parties allied…

Vesna Pusic is likely to be appointed as Croatia’s new Foreign Affairs Minister this week. She is the president of the Croatian People’s Party (HNS) (a part of the Kukuriku/Cock-a-doodle-doo centre-left alliance that won majority votes in December 4 general elections). Continue reading →: Go Jump In The Lake
I don’t think I’m the only person in the world who gets quite annoyed by the International Criminal Tribunal for the Former Yugoslavia (ICTY) chief prosecutors. I accept that their job is important, but it should not be a job where personal hunches, witch hunting or warped beliefs should have…

Continue reading →: Better Grave Than Slave
2011 is nearing to its end and it would be remiss of a commentary on Croatia’s key events of the 20th Century if it did not pay respects to the slogan of the “Croatian Spring” December 1971 student’s and citizens’ mass demonstrations and appeals: “Bolje Grob Nego Rob” “Better…

Continue reading →: Nigel Farage barrage
At the moment Croatia is a star in the European Union circles – praise for Croatia’s achievements in its unreasonably hard route to reach the stage of signing the EU Treaty & become a member of EU echoes almost everywhere one looks. The Croatian Democratic Union (HDZ) government won praise…

Further to my post yesterday: If not Josip Boljkovac – who then? Anto Nobilo, Boljkovac’s defence attorney, “revealed” today on Croatian HRT TV that “the murderer is comrade Mico, and not Josip Boljkovac”. http://www.hrt.hr/index.php?id=48&tx_ttnews[tt_news]=141118&tx_ttnews[backPid]=38&cHash=17b18830cf He further stated that he performed his own investigation and that the documentation on the case…

Josip Boljkovac , communist/partisan/antifascist WWII, was arrested on 2 November on allegations of war crimes including mass murders immediately after WWII ended 1945. Ina Vukic: I was born in Croatia and live Australia. I have been described as a prominent figure known for my contribution to the Croatian and wider societies, particularly in the context of Croatia’s transition from communism to democracy, as well as for my many years of work as a clinical psychologist and Chief Executive Officer of government-funded services for people with disabilities, including mental health services, in Australia. In 1995, the President of the Republic of Croatia awarded me two Medals of Honor, the Homeland War Memorial Medal and the Order of the Croatian Trefoil for her special merits and her contribution to the founding of the Republic of Croatia. I have been a successful blogger since 2011 and write extensively in the English-language on issues related to Croatian current affairs and democracy, as well as the challenges Croatia faced and still faces in its transition from communism. My goal is to raise awareness of these connections and issues worldwide.
