Continue reading →: Changing Face of CroatiaOn my last visit to Croatia the devastating earthquake in Zagreb in late March 2020, and dozens of smaller ones that followed, amidst extreme Covid 19 pandemic lockdowns that included public transport stoppage, saw me cut my visit short and leave Croatia and return to Australia. Then more devastating earthquakes in…

Continue reading →: Croatia: Still Trapped In Communist 1945 Despite 1990’s Victorious War of IndependenceOne thing about Croatia that is crystal clear is that former communists and those carrying their flag to this day cannot forgive the Croatian people for fighting for and defending their absolute right for self-determination and freedom from communist Yugoslavia. That fact was evident in 1945 and decades that followed,…

Continue reading →: Croatia: Tough Nut Communist MindsetTo my knowledge, which is relatively substantial by the way, nobody like the communists used and abused history to serve their own purposes for control and power. The European Parliament has become the arena where this culminates. This, one may say, is unsavoury but not surprising to a democratically minded…

Continue reading →: Croatia: What Lied Beneath – Electorate Boundaries Law Made Null and VoidIt has been almost a quarter of a century since boundaries of electorates/constituencies in Croatia were drawn! The question arises then: how legitimate under the principle of democracy were all elections for the government in that time when proportional and equal representation in parliament was not had and the Electoral…
Ina Vukic: I was born in Croatia and live Australia. I have been described as a prominent figure known for my contribution to the Croatian and wider societies, particularly in the context of Croatia’s transition from communism to democracy, as well as for my many years of work as a clinical psychologist and Chief Executive Officer of government-funded services for people with disabilities, including mental health services, in Australia. In 1995, the President of the Republic of Croatia awarded me two Medals of Honor, the Homeland War Memorial Medal and the Order of the Croatian Trefoil for her special merits and her contribution to the founding of the Republic of Croatia. I have been a successful blogger since 2011 and write extensively in the English-language on issues related to Croatian current affairs and democracy, as well as the challenges Croatia faced and still faces in its transition from communism. My goal is to raise awareness of these connections and issues worldwide.
