Celebration of Croatian Independence

This is to you our blogging community – the thousands upon thousands following and reacting to stories and issues we churn out daily, weekly, spreading the words that matter. Thank you! While I will be posting during the coming month there will be little time for me to connect with you all and your posts as per our usual dynamics – I will be recharging my senses with all the life – past and present – Croatia will spread before me and embrace me with.  Stay well and productive! Have a wonderful time! Not to mention lots of long meals and several bottles of good wine with family and friends. Bonus–chocolate! 🙂
Hopefully you have a head start over the tourists.

    Dear Ina,
I hope you have had a restful break. I enjoy reading your posts and your FB page- being a second generation Croatian living in Australia, your social network sites keep me posted on what’s happening- and even though my Croatian is pretty good, it’s refreshing to read it all in English!! From your time in the Croatian Community in Sydney, did you know my grandparents- Ante and Franka Grubelic? They left Sydney in 1985 to return to Croatia.

Thank you Angela, great to her. Am still in Croatia a bit longer – hard to resist the beauty :). It’shard to picture your grandparents but it could easily be I may have known them or met them. Kind regards and cheers.

My Baba Franka is still alive and she remembers you from King Tom club in Punchbowl. You know so many people, and it’s hard to remember so many faces….take care.

I’m Ina

I was born in Croatia and live Australia. I have been described as a prominent figure known for my contribution to the Croatian and wider societies, particularly in the context of Croatia’s transition from communism to democracy, as well as for my many years of work as a clinical psychologist and Chief Executive Officer of government-funded services for people with disabilities, including mental health services, in Australia. In 1995, the President of the Republic of Croatia awarded me two Medals of Honor, the Homeland War Memorial Medal and the Order of the Croatian Trefoil for her special merits and her contribution to the founding of the Republic of Croatia.  I have been a successful blogger since 2011 and write extensively in the English-language on issues related to Croatian current affairs and democracy, as well as the challenges Croatia faced and still faces in its transition from communism. My goal is to raise awareness of these connections and issues worldwide.
