Reading my previous post on the official celebration of Croatian Victory Day, Thanksgiving Day and Veteran’s Day on Monday 5 August in Knin one might easily conclude that in Croatia there is a certain wave of political manipulation designed to suffocate the joy people are entitled to express when celebrating their victory of freedom and democracy. One wouldn’t be too wrong in making such conclusions for had the Croatian politicians worked closely with various veterans’ organisations and local community bodies during the past 18 years public celebrations of 5 August would be a widespread affair throughout Croatia. The way such celebrations should be because the victory and freedom affects one and all.
But, regretfully, politicians (and some media) have often interpreted the very popular celebration of 5 August that takes place in Cavoglave/ Sibenik-Knin County as unwelcome, as nationalistic – which is simply mean. Since the government and its satellites failed miserably at encouraging people to celebrate their victory for free Croatia the people found their own way to celebrate. And all the power to them, I say.
More than 120,000 people attended the Croatian Victory Day celebrations at Cavoglave this year, which was crowned by the musical concert headed by Marko Perkovic Thompson, a most popular musician who had often been targeted by those who seem to want to kill off love for Croatia as a nationalist.
The Cavoglave celebration seems to me to be exactly what Croatia Victory Day celebrations should be in every town and village and city across Croatia. The day commenced with an early morning Mass for late president Franjo Tudjman and all the fallen and deceased veterans, then ensued parades and showcasing of folkloric groups from many areas of Croatia and Bosnia and Herzegovina and then came the legendary musical concert and fireworks. Congratulations to the organisers of Cavoglave celebrations, and may the spirit of true joy found there spread all over Croatia, in spite of political machinations that downplay the value of self-determination and the sacrifices made in achieving it. CONGRATULATIONS!
Thank you Lucian!
This is one event I’d truly love to take my kids to next year. Unfortunately we’ll be heading home a touch too early.
Perhaps the year after Jure – it gets bigger and better and it’s fun, fun, fun – friends everywhere, I’m sure your kids would absolutely love it
I believe it is good for the morale of every country to carry on with traditions.
Me too gpcox – if we forget the traditions of our ancestors we lose ourselves too, I think

In Knin to whistle all the children of Traitors in Croatia!
After one hour, sad Victory Day celebrations in Knin any news on Radman public television home began with the issue of Knin whistleblowers. In communications, sociologists, psychologists, political scientists, and even politicians poems treats by the dozen ‘expensive’ tv-minute central log of whether the whistleblowing premiere was justified or not, is that a huge insult to all those present defenders and political ‘elite’, because whistling is Behold, overshadowed pretty grim celebration of Victory Day …. in Knin? Even catastrophic falls Croatian rating to junk level, worrisome economic decline, then ‘government’ of production and a decline in GDP came in second place, preceded by democratic whistling intended not only to government incompetence … but wider, much wider, all Judah !
“This is the real yogurt-revolution (?) Will always be a fool (like him!, Nap. A.) and gnarled branches,” he exclaims excitedly our ‘war minister’, Fred Flintstone, Serbian-law-says of his colleagues! Yet in the end, it’s only a ‘disturbing public order and peace, “said Ostojic neo-communist” People’s Militia “and bring one 61-year-old standard whistleblowers, who will likely undergo sophisticated torture would not paid and other’ nuisance ‘! And on that same central diary Radman public TV stations ‘even a single word’ about a truly magnificent celebration that same day, Victory Day in Mark Čavoglave on which was attended by at least 120,000 young people smiling-patriots, 24 times more than in Knin. Should boo party profiteers Goran Radman, his employers from the Croatian Parliament as well as its anti-Croatian editors-robin, rigid Judah! The only thing we have over TV … learn to Čavoglave everything went fine, there was no ‘disturbing public order’ and apparently there was no law prohibited Ustasha caps so that bother our political Traitors who publicly earlier ‘blew All currency ‘our war.
